Two digital videos

The two electromagnetism videos are now up in iTunes U.

If you watch them carefully, you will see the effects of polarization in real time. Also, you can figure out the shape and concentration of electric field lines. Good.

Electricity learning module is UP.

The week's learning module, covering electricity concepts of chapter 20, is now up.

I have some digital video to show you in iTunes U, but for some reason I cannot log into iTunes U this morning. You will see the digital videos soon.

I am still working on Writing Assignment 2. More about it soon.

Several new mini-podcasts and a digital video

There are two new digital videos about the power of atmospheric pressure to crush things. Look in the digital video part of our iTunes U area.

Also, I uploaded eight new mini-podcasts to iTunes U. Go for it!!!

Writing assignments

I am delaying Writing Assignment 2 a few more days.

Do not stress out -- it is an easy task, which you can do in an hour or so.

Learning modules are up.

There are two new learning modules up in Webcourses:
  1. Thermodynamics (chapter 13), Week 10 module
  2. Waves (chapter 15), Week 10.5 mini-module
I am sorry that the chapter 13 module was delayed -- I thought I had set it up, but it was chapter 12 I had set up previously. This was supposed to be the mini-module week, so.... now you get two at the same time, and schedule wise we are only a few days behind. We should be OK by the time Exam 3 rolls around.

Note: There are several mini-podcasts for chapter 13, which I will drop into iTunes U, plus a few waves-related digital videos that I made this semester. I will announce here when they are in iTunes U.

Welcome back from spring break

Do we need another week of spring break or WHAT?

But being as how we actually have to get back to work, let me make a few announcements:
  1. I am pushing back the due date for Writing Assignment 2 to next Wednesday, the 24th, on account of when I made up the semester schedule, I forgot about spring break being last week.
  2. I will announce your instructions for Writing Assignment 2 by this Wed. or sooner. Until then, re-read the article you've chosen (in WA 1) and practice writing a sentence or two answering WHY that specific article caught your eye.
  3. I will release the Week 10 learning module later today, hopefully by supper time.

Week 8 learning module is UP

You can now start working on the learning module for Week 8, including the new mini-quiz.

In addition, I will be uploading a few podcasts into iTunes U, with some calculation and discussion of buoyancy.

Tsunami prediction videos

I just set up a tsunami-related Weblink on the home page in Webcourses. It has some animations of the wave models they use for predicting the motion of tsunamis and generating warnings. There are bunches of different animations. Sweeeeeeet.

We are going to dip into chapter 15 after spring break, so this will be helpful viewing.

Writing assignment 1 is now graded.

Everybody who turned in something for Writing Assignment 1 now has a grade. Most of you did fine, but a few of you have some sharpening up to do with your topic and/or your citation. See my comments for your assignment.

Stay ready for the Writing Assignment 2 instructions later this week.
